Books, Books, Books!

Merry Christmas and WELCOME!

I'm Laura Johnston (Lo, for short), and I write YA fiction. This is my corner of the web on writing, reading, and hopefully someday publishing! Still figuring out the whole writing blog thing, so bear with me. For now, a little Christmas cheer with a tidbit about me (and, of course, BOOKS)...

Every Christmas season of my life my mom made gingerbread. We're talking scratch here, people. Mixing, kneading, rolling, rolling, and rolling. Don't underestimate the rolling; this stuff is thick! Candy gets everywhere. Frosting sticks to the kitchen floor like cement. AND somehow I'm crazy enough to carry on the tradition.

Here are a couple of pics of our 2011 gingerbread village featuring the bookstore my husband and I designed, Johnston Books & Co. Yes, Hubby, I'm giving you credit here. (He did the rolling!)

Note: in my mind this was a quaint little shop. One glance below and you'll understand my disclaimer. But, hey, Borders may have closed their doors (still shedding tears), but Johnston Books & Co. is going strong.

My three-year-old daughter snapped this pic. Not bad, eh?

Until next time...
XO,
Lo
